2025 NFL schedule: Way-to-early game-by-game win/loss predictions for Cowboys

The NFL schedule-makers didn’t make Brian Schottenheimer’s job any easier in his first-year as the Dallas Cowboys new head coach. Not only do they have to start the 2025 season off against their division rival and defending Super Bowl champions the Philadelphia Eagles, but they also have a brutal six-game stretch in November/December against teams who all made the playoffs last season.

If the Cowboys can remain healthy all season, this is a team talented enough to compete with the best of the best in the league and make a deep playoff run. But, they’re going to have to do a much better job winning games at home than they did in 2024 and learn to cut down on the penalties. If they can come accomplish that it’s entirely possible they win double-digit games this season.

With all of that in mind, we attempted to predict the Dallas Cowboys win/loss record for the 2025 season. We had them fishing with a 10-7 regular-season record, but also believe there are few games in there that could go either way.

Week 1: Dallas Cowboys @ Philadelphia Eagles
Thursday, September 4 (8:20 PM NBC)

The Brian Schottenheimer era in Dallas kicks off on the road against the defending Super Bowl champions and division rival Eagles, who will be hoisting their second SB banner in front of their fans in the season opener. This game heavily favors the hometown team.

Eagles 31, Cowboys 24 (0-1)

Week 2: Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants
Sunday, September 14 (1 PM FOX)

Dallas hosts the Giants at AT&T Stadium in their home opener, a team they’ve beaten in eight consecutive games. Dak Prescott also has a 13-game win streak on the line against NYG. Home field advantage is in their favor, even though they struggled at home in 2024.

Cowboys 24, Giants 10 (1-1)

Week 3: Dallas Cowboys @ Chicago Bears
Sunday, September 21 (4:25 PM FOX)

Cowboys new DC Matt Eberflus returns to Chicago to face his former team under new HC Ben Johnson. This will also be the first time they’ve faced second-year QB Caleb Williams. The Bears aren’t talent deprived, but also aren’t on Dallas’ level just yet.

Cowboys 27, Bears 13 (2-1)

Week 4: Dallas Cowboys vs. Green Bay Packers
Sunday, September 28 (8:20 PM NBC)

The Cowboys have lost five consecutive games, including the playoffs, against the Packers and haven’t beaten them since 2016. This game shapes up to be a shootout between Dak Prescott and Jordan Love. Whichever QB makes less mistakes likely earns the “W”.

Packers 34, Cowboys 31 (2-2)

Week 5: Dallas Cowboys @ New York Jets
Sunday, October 5 (1 PM FOX)

Dallas heads to NY for the second time in 2025 to play the Jets under new HC Aaron Glenn. NYJ should be a better team under Glenn’s guidance, but could still be struggling to put things together early in the season. This could potentially be a trap game for the Cowboys.

Cowboys 24, Jets 17 (3-2)

Week 6: Dallas Cowboys @ Carolina Panthers
Sunday, October 12 (1 PM FOX)

The Cowboys hit the road for the second consecutive week in a row to take on the Panthers. This will be the first time these two teams have played since making the Jonathan Mingo trade. Revenge game? Probably not, but one Dallas should be favored to win nonetheless.

Cowboys 27, Panthers 17 (4-2)

Week 7: Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Commanders
Sunday, October 19 (4:25 PM FOX)

The Cowboys and Commanders have split the series over the past three seasons, but will that continue in 2025? Dallas has the pass rushing arsenal to give second-year QB Jayden Daniels fits, which could be the difference between two pretty evenly matched teams.

Cowboys 20, Commanders 17 (5-2)

Week 8: Dallas Cowboys @ Denver Broncos
Sunday, October 26 (4:25 PM CBS)

Dallas hasn’t beaten the Broncos since 1995. Can they end the nearly 20 year drought? It’s doable, but Denver has one of the the best defenses in the league and an offense that should be even better in their second season under HC Sean Payton and QB Bo Nix.

Broncos 24, Cowboys 20 (5-3)

Week 9: Dallas Cowboys vs. Arizona Cardinals
Monday, November 3 (8:15 PM ESPN)

Dating back to high school, Cardinals QB Kyler Murray is a perfect 9-0 when playing at AT&T Stadium. Arizona also has a three-game win streak against the Cowboys. Even though that doesn’t bode well for Dallas in this matchup, they are the better team on paper.

Cowboys 23, Cardinals 17 (6-3)

Week 10: Bye Week
With several key players coming off of season-ending injuries heading into the 2025 NFL season, an earlier bye week may have been preferable for the Cowboys. With a tough November/December stretch ahead of them though this might work out better.

Week 11: Dallas Cowboys @ Las Vegas Raiders
Monday, November 17 (8:15 PM ESPN)

Dallas heads to Las Vegas after their bye week to take on the Raiders under new HC Pete Carroll. The key to this game will be containing rookie RB Ashton Jeanty and protecting Dak Prescott from the Raiders impressive pass rush. If they can do that they should earn the “W”.

Cowboys 27, Raiders 20 (7-3)

Week 12: Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Sunday, November 23 (4:25 PM FOX)

This is the start of a tough six-game stretch featuring teams that all won 11+ games in 2024. The Cowboys will be looking to extract a little revenge after being at a severe disadvantage in the season opener, but it may take near-perfect football to keep from being swept.

Eagles 27, Cowboys 24 (7-4)

Week 13: Dallas Cowboys vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Thursday, November 27 (4:30 PM CBS)

The Cowboys have won three consecutive Thanksgiving Day games and Patrick Mahomes is still looking for his first victory at AT&T Stadium. This should be an entertaining matchup between two talented, star-studded teams.

Cowboys 30, Chiefs 28 (8-4)

Week 14: Dallas Cowboys @ Detroit Lions
Thursday, December 4 (8:15 PM Prime)

A rivalry has started between the Cowboys and Lions over the past few seasons and should carry over into 2025. Dallas will be looking for little revenge after getting embarrassed 47-9 by Detroit last year, but will need to stop the league’s best RB duo in the league first.

Lions 23, Cowboys 20 (8-5)

Week 15: Dallas Cowboys vs. Minnesota Vikings
Sunday, December 14 (8:20 PM NBC)

Minnesota’s 2025 success hinges on their second-year QB J.J. McCarthy, who missed his rookie year with a season-ending injury. He’ll have plenty of time to establish himself as the starter by this point in the season, but may or may not be good enough to beat Dallas at home.

Cowboys 17, Vikings 13 (9-5)

Week 16: Dallas Cowboys vs. Los Angeles Chargers
Sunday, December 21 (1 PM FOX)

With the additions of RB Omarion Hampton and Najee Harris and the return of WR Mike Williams, the Chargers offense should be much better under second-year HC Jim Harbaugh. LAC also has one of the best defenses in the league, making this a tough game for Dallas.

Cowboys 23, Chargers 20 (10-5)

Week 17: Dallas Cowboys @ Washington Commanders
Thursday, December 25 (1 PM Netflix)

After two back-to-back home games against a couple of tough opponents, Dallas has a quick turnaround to take on their division rival the Commanders. That’s a lot to ask for any team and might be too much for Dallas to overcome this late in the season.

Commanders 17, Cowboys 13 (10-6)

Week 18: Dallas Cowboys @ New York Giants
Saturday or Sunday, January 3 or 4 (TBD)

Like they did to kick off the season, the Cowboys close things out with back-to-back games against division rivals, only this time they are both on the road. The regular-season finale could be a meaningless game for the Cowboys, making them rest players for the playoffs.

Giants 13, Cowboys 10 (10-7)
