Manchester United recorded a confident victory against crosstown rivals Manchester City in the derby on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu made the difference on the day, netting two second-half goals without reply from Pep Guardiola’s side.

Man of the Match | This is probably going to be a very difficult choice, isn’t it?pollMan of the Match | This is probably going to be a very difficult choice, isn’t it?With a resounding 38 per cent of the vote, you selected our captain, Bruno Fernandes, as your Man of the Match.

The Portuguese midfielder embodied our overall performance, registering the most tackles (4) of any player on the pitch and creating the most chances (6), one of which being the pass that gave Mbeumo the room to slip the ball beyond Gianluigi Donnarumma just after the hour mark.

Fernandes was then replaced in the final moments by fellow creative spark Mason Mount, who had a stoppage-time goal of his own ruled out in a tight offside call.

The historic occasion was Michael Carrick’s first game since taking charge of the Reds earlier this week, and there’s no doubting the impact of Fernandes in that huge three-point gain at the Theatre of Dreams.

As you’d expect, there was a significant amount of votes reserved for our goalscorers, Dorgu (19 per cent) and Mbeumo (14 per cent).

The former once again took a more advanced role on the left wing, and doubled our lead just over 10 minutes after the Cameroonian’s opener, with the Dane’s strike being teed up by Matheus Cunha.

It was Mbeumo’s first game back since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, and he marked the occasion in style.

Amad (six per cent) was another returnee, who came level with Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez in the poll, showing the level of performance across the pitch.

Congratulations, Bruno!

Thank you to all those who voted in our Man of the Match poll.
