Brentford’s forward Igor Thiago has been named as the best player in the Premier League for the month of January 2026 following his fantastic performance for the Bees.
Igor Thiago also made history by becoming the first Brazilian to win the award more than once in Premier League history. This achievement is a testament to the hard work he has put in since he joined Brentford.
This Premier League player of the month is coming after hr claimed the prize in November 2025. Thiago added a further five goals to his Premier League tally to win January’s award as the Bees kept their surprise bid for a top-six finish on track with wins over Everton and Sunderland.
All of Thiago’s goals came in those two victories, recording a hat-trick against Everton and two goals versus Sunderland as he continued to chase down Erling Haaland in the race for this season’s Coca-Cola Golden Boot.
Thiago also set the record for most goals from a Brazilian in a single season, overtaking the previous record of 15.
The 24-year-old topped an eight-man shortlist that also included Yasin Ayari (Brighton & Hove Albion), Patrick Dorgu (Manchester United), Enzo Fernandez (Chelsea), Junior Kroupi (AFC Bournemouth), Crysencio Summerville (West Ham United), Harry Wilson (Fulham) and Florian Wirtz (Liverpool).
