As one of the early favorites to be the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL draft, Shedeur Sanders is leaning toward participating in the scouting combine.
On the latest episode of his 2Legendary YouTube show (starts at 18:40 mark), Sanders said āI think soā when asked about taking part in the combine.
Itās a fairly common practice for top prospects not to take part in mostāif not allāactivities at the combine. Caleb Williams, the top pick in the 2024 draft, didnāt do anything in Indianapolis last year, including medical testing and measurements.
āI didnāt feel the need to go out and throw,ā Williams said of the decision. āI played around 30-something games, I believe. Go ahead and go watch real-live ball of me, and see how I am as a competitor.ā
Sanders isnāt as highly-regarded as a prospect coming out of college as Williams was last season. B/Rās NFL scouting department has him ranked as the No. 2 quarterback, behind Miamiās Cam Ward, and ninth-best player overall in the 2025 draft.
A stellar workout in Indianapolis during the combine could elevate Sandersā stock as he figures to be in the mix for the top overall pick to the Tennessee Titans.
There is the risk of a bad workout hurting his standing, but there seems to be very little concern he would have a significant fall just given the lack of depth and high-end talent at the quarterback position in this draft.
B/Rās NFL scouting department projected Sanders to the Titans in its most recent mock draft, though his father, Deion Sanders, has said publicly he would intervene to prevent him from playing for certain teams.
Coach Prime didnāt name the specific teams that he would attempt to block from selecting his sons, but it could make for an interesting storyline leading up to the draft.
Sanders has extensive experience playing at the college level. He started 50 games over four seasons between Jackson State and Colorado. The 22-year-old led all FBS quarterbacks with a 74.0 completion percentage, ranked second with 37 touchdown passes and fourth with 4,134 passing yards as a senior in 2024.
The 2025 NFL scouting combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis from Feb. 27-March 2.
