The first independent box office hit of 2025 has come to Netflix. Den of Thieves 2: Pantera surprised industry observers when it reached No. 1 at the box office in January of this year. But we won’t be shocked at all if it hits No. 1 on the most popular movies on Netflix.

Our other top pick of the week is Everest, a gorgeously filmed disaster flick about a deadly series of events on top of one of the world’s tallest mountains. This one is not for the faint of heart. So you may prefer something lighter to chase that film with, like Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves or even The Electric State. Both of those movies recently arrived on Netflix.
