Manchester United welcome Athletic Bilbao to Old Trafford on Thursday for the second leg of their Europa League semi-final.
The Red Devils cruised to a shock 3-0 win over their Spanish counterparts in the Basque Country in the first leg, and head coach Ruben Amorim will therefore be confident about his side’s chances of reaching the final.
In the Premier League, however, United were beaten 4-3 by Brentford last time out, meaning they have now lost 16 of their 35 league games so far this term.
With that in mind, those in charge of the club will be keen to bolster Amorim’s squad during the summer transfer window, and it appears that the club are lining up a bid for a Premier League star.
According to CaughtOffside, United are plotting an opening offer for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo.
The 25-year-old has been in sensational form for the Bees so far this season, netting 18 times in 35 Premier League matches.

His impressive form has attracted interest from elsewhere, though, and the report claims that several clubs in the English top flight are interested in the player.
Mbeumo joined Brentford from French side Troyes in 2019 and has since played more than 230 times for the club across all competitions.
As well as United, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool Newcastle United and Arsenal are all said to be monitoring the Cameroon international ahead of the summer transfer window.
Brentford are said to value the attacker at around £60-65 million, and the report suggests that the price tag could deter Newcastle as the North East giants may not be able to afford a deal for the player.
Mbeumo is under contract with Brentford until the end of next season, but the West London outfit could face a battle to keep hold of the player beyond this summer.
