Bayer Leverkusen forward player Victor Boniface has announced his retirement from the Super Eagles after the friendly game against Russia.
Boniface announced his exit from the national team via his official instagram account on Friday, June 6 2025. He was substituted in the 61st minute for Toluwase Arokodare, who scored the crucial equaliser in the game to save the Eagles from defeat.
Boniface has been criticised recently by supporters of the Super Eagles due to his bad form since he is asked to represent.
“Proud to play for my country and a dream for me also. Really enjoyed every moment, the good and the bad. Thanks a lot. Thank you all. I do hang boot.”
The Bayer Leverkusen striker who is known for his playful presence on social media has deleted the post which has left many wonderring if it was a serious announcement or simply a light-hearted comment.
