Manchester City begin their FIFA Club World Cup campaign when they face Moroccan side Wydad AC on Wednesday night.
Pep Guardiola’s side lifted the trophy in 2023 and are one of the favourites to win the competition – which has been revamped to include 32 teams – this time around.
City will also face UAE side Al Ain and Italian giants Juventus in the group stage of the competition, which is taking place in the United States.
The Citizens will have new signings Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Cherki and Rayan Ait-Nouri all available for the tournament, with the club having been busy completing signings during the first of this summer’s two transfer windows.
While the window has now reopened as of Monday, it appears that City have cooled their interest in an England international.

Football Insider claims that City’s interest in Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has cooled.
The report claims that the Citizens were interested in the 25-year-old but Forest’s £70 million valuation of the player has deterred them from pursuing a move.
Gibbs-White joined Forest from Wolves in 2022 and has since played 118 times for the club across all competitions, scoring 18 goals and registering 28 assists.
The Englishman is under contract until the end of the 2026/27 campaign but the report claims that his current employers are determined to keep hold of the player and could attempt to agree a new deal.
Chelsea are also said to be keeping tabs on the midfielder, who played 38 times for Nuno Esperito Santo’s side last season.
It is also claimed that City’s decision not to pursue a move for Gibbs-White could be in part as a result of the arrivals of Cherki and Reijnders at The Etihad.
