Talks continue to circulate that former UFC double champion Conor McGregor will return to the Octagon for the White House mega event next year.

Last week, it was announced by the President of the United States Donald Trump that on July 4 next year, the UFC will put on a mega event on the premises of The White House.

The news immediately sent fans into meltdown as it is guaranteed to be the most spectacular event the promotion has ever put on, and UFC boss Dana White has claimed it will be ‘the Sphere on steroids’.

Not long after the shock announcement, White revealed his dream main event for the card would be a heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall, and Jones outlined his plan to return for the event despite his recent retirement.

However, the UFC boss didn’t rule out the potential of seeing Conor McGregor and Jon Jones share the stage after McGregor also claimed he will return on the event.

And this past Tuesday, it was speculated by Conor McGregor‘s BKFC business partner David Feldman that McGregor has also re-entered the testing pool as he confirmed the Irishman’s plan to return.

“He told me in person, he whispered in my ear, ‘I’m in the testing pool, I’m getting ready to make my comeback. I’m going to fight on that (White House) card, then I’m going to have another fight, then we can talk,” Feldman recalled his conversation with McGregor during an interview with Ariel Helwani.

Although ‘The Notorious’ words could be true regarding having re-entered the testing pool, according to the UFC Anti-Doping database, McGregor is still yet to register a test session this year.

The last time the former UFC double champion registered a drug test was in September last year, marking 10 months since he last registered a test session.

McGregor was scheduled to make his long-awaited return last June against Michael Chandler and re-entered the testing pool after a year out of it. Despite that, he seemingly opted back out once his fight against Chandler fell through.

McGregor could still make his return on historic one-of-one eventDespite the fact that the Irishman hasn’t registered a test session this year, at this point, it won’t affect his plan to compete on the July 4 event next year.

Fighters must be in the testing pool for at least six months before they can fight in the Octagon, leaving McGregor plenty of time to get tested before the historic event.
