Harry Redknapp was the victim of a burglary as masked robbers broke into his mansion with hammers and stole his wife’s jewellery.

The former Premier League manager and his wife, Sandra, were out when the gang broke down the front door of their £5million Dorset home.

It is claimed in a report by The Sun that the robbers were familiar with the layout of the pile, located near Dorset beach resort Sandbanks – where property is among the most expensive in the world per square foot.

A source told The Sun: “It was clearly organised.

The burglary took place last Friday night, with the couple both away from the property when it was broken into.

An attempted robbery earlier this year close to Redknapp’s home has led to theories that information available online could have helped prompted the break-in.

In May, burglars attempted to break into the nearby home of TV interior designer Celia Sawyer, which was also understood to be on sale and advertised on Rightmove.

A source said: “The criminals would only have to keep watch on the property and break in once the coast was clear, knowing the full layout of the house in advance.”

CCTV caught the masked robbers using heavy hammers to break down the front door of Redknapp’s home.

“They were caught on CCTV cameras breaking in and trying to ransack the property looking for valuables.

“It was clearly organised and they must have known the house was empty at the time.”

Despite the traumatic event, Redknapp was keen to move on from it, having been at a function when the robbery took place

A spokesman for the former Tottenham and West Ham boss told The Sun: “Harry doesn’t want to make a fuss.

“There was no one in the house at the time and we don’t want to comment on what was taken.

The search for the culprits is ongoing, with officers confirming last night that they were still looking for them.

Redknapp and his wife placed the property on sale, as they prepare to move into their new waterside villa at Sandbanks.

They moved into their current home in 2021, after a lack of privacy while living in a modern mansion with large windows overlooking Sandbanks beach.
