Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak allegedly rejects interest from Manchester United, with the Sweden international determined to secure a move to Liverpool.

Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak has reportedly rejected interest from Manchester United, with the Sweden international determined to secure a move to Liverpool before the end of the summer transfer window.

Liverpool are said to have submitted a first official bid for Isak on Friday afternoon, with the Reds thought to have placed an offer worth £120m plus add-ons on the table, only for Newcastle to swiftly reject it.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Isak is making it clear that he only wants to join Liverpool this summer.

Man United, who are in the centre-forward market, are believed to have approached Isak’s camp to register their interest in the Swede, but the 25-year-old is only interested in a move to Anfield.

Plettenberg claims that Isak and his representatives remain ‘optimistic’ that an agreement can be reached, while personal terms on a contract until June 2031 are said to have already been put in place.

Isak ‘optimistic’ he will join Liverpool this summerHowever, according to journalist Ben Jacobs, Liverpool are not currently preparing a second bid for the striker.

“Liverpool bid with optimism this morning, but Newcastle’s response was so quick and strong another bid is not currently in the works,” Jacobs posted on X.

“Key now is how Isak responds. Newcastle hoping he reintegrates and are prepared to offer him a new contract, likely with the ability to leave next summer.

“Should Isak double down, and continue to push for a move, and Newcastle find striker replacements, Liverpool could revisit their stance, but only if Newcastle contact them to offer encouragement. Liverpool won’t bid again unless Newcastle indicate they will discuss a sale.”

The fact that a £120m offer has been turned down by Newcastle is incredible considering Isak’s desire to leave, and it could take a fee in the region of £140m for the Premier League champions to sign the forward.

Liverpool ‘not planning’ second bid for IsakIsak has developed into one of the best centre-forwards in world football during his time at Newcastle, scoring 62 goals and registering 11 assists in 109 appearances for the Magpies in all competitions.

Last season, the striker scored 27 goals and registered six assists in 42 appearances, and it would be fair to say that Newcastle have been rocked by his desire to leave this summer.

Chelsea have not been entirely ruled out of the race for Isak, while there have also been suggestions of serious interest from the Saudi Pro League, but it does appear that the forward will either join Liverpool or sign a new contract at Newcastle, potentially with a release clause, this summer.
