Team Spirit has won BLAST Bounty Season 2 in Malta after sweeping aside The MongolZ in last weekend’s Grand Final.
The win follows the team’s victory at Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Cologne, continuing its impressive start to the second half of 2025.
Team Spirit managed to win the event’s main stage without conceding a map, defeating Virtus.pro and MOUZ with 2-0 victories before defeating The MongolZ in the Grand Final with a 3-0 win.
The MongolZ put up a fight on Nuke and Mirage, but Team Spirit’s defence proved superior, knocking any kind of momentum from the Mongolian side’s attack.
Having claimed the bounties of the defeated teams, the organisation earned a total of $287,812.50 (~£212,464.20) in prize money, along with three BLAST Frequent Flyers points that contribute to the event organiser’s revenue-sharing initiative.
BLAST Bounty Season 2 is expected to be one of the final tournaments where Myroslav ‘zont1x’ Plakhotia will represent Team Spirit. After the Esports World Cup, it’s reported that former HEROIC player Andrey ‘tN1R’ Tatarinovich will join the starting line-up.
The victory marks the first Tier 1 trophy for Ivan ‘zweih’ Gogin, who joined Team Spirit in July after it moved Boris ‘magixx’ Vorobyev to the bench.
The Battle For Top Spot
With Team Spirit winning back-to-back events, the race to secure the top spot in the Valve Regional Standings (VRS) is beginning to heat up.
Thanks to Team Vitality scoring consecutive top-four finishes at BLAST Bounty Season 2 and IEM Cologne, there’s a possibility of Team Spirit knocking the French organisation down to second place for the first time in over 30 weeks.
Both Team Vitality and Team Spirit are competing at the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from August 20th to 24th. Team Spirit has the opportunity to win its third event in a row, while the likes of Team Vitality will be looking to the top after missing out on the podium in Cologne and Malta.
