Premier League champions Liverpool began the defence of their crown with a 4-2 victory over Bournemouth on Friday.
Hugo Ekitike scored on his Anfield debut to put the Reds in front, before Cody Gakpo doubled their advantage.
Antoine Semenyo then netted twice in the second half to draw the Cherries level, before late goals from Federico Chiesa and Mohamed Salah earned Arne Slot’s side an important victory.
Next up Liverpool travel to the North East to face Newcastle United, before hosting rivals Arsenal at the end of August.
In the meantime, it appears that Liverpool are set to face fierce competition in the race to sign an England international.
According to CaughtOffside, Italian giants Inter Milan are interested in Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, who has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield.

The report claim that the Serie A giants have informed the centre-back’s representatives that he is one of their transfer targets for next summer.
Guehi, 25, is currently in the final year of his contract with the Eagles, who are said to be open to the idea of selling him this summer in order to avoid losing him for free next term.
If the player does stay put at Selhurst Park, however, Inter are ready to attempt to sign him as a free agent next year with a lucrative offer.
Guehi joined Palace from Chelsea in 2022 and has since made more than 150 appearances for the South London club across all competitions.
It is claimed that Liverpool have been in direct talks with Liverpool about a potential move for the defender, however the negotiations have stalled amid differences in the two clubs’ respective valuations.
