Fans of Iron Man and Marvel are sure to get a kick out of the latest update to Fortnite’s Blitz Royale game mode. The limited-time update, called Marvel Blitz: Stark Island, has transformed the Blitz Royale island into Stark Island, which is themed entirely around Tony Stark/Iron Man.

This update comes with several new weapons and points of interest. We’re going to be looking at all the changes made to Blitz Royale with the Stark Island update and what the community reaction has been so far.

What’s new in Marvel Blitz: Stark Island?

The Blitz Royale map has been completely transformed with the Marvel Blitz: Stark Island update. The island has been reimagined to look like a variation of the Stark Island that appeared in the Nexus War event in Fortnite, which occurred in 2020 in Chapter 2: Season 4.

New POIs

The three new points of interest on the map are as follows:

Stark Academy

Stark Cabin

Stark Industries

Stark Industry is the main new area in the update, as it is the largest structure. The building is a futuristic-style technology complex that acts as a centrepiece of sorts. Stark Academy is a little smaller, but it’s still a significant new structure for players to explore, as it’s filled with various pieces of lore and Stark tech. Stark Cabin is the smallest new structure, but it has something of an emotional connection to Tony Stark’s lore, particularly the version of him from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The cabin has fewer chests and items in the vicinity, but it is also likely to be less crowded than Stark Industry or Stark Academy because of this.

Iron Man-themed weapons and items

There have been several adjustments to the loot pool with the new update and additions. The new Iron Man-themed items are:

Stark Industries Energy Rifle

Iron Man Flight Kit

War Machine’s Arsenal

War Machine’s Hover Jets

Players start the match with either the Stark Industries Energy Rifle and Iron Man Flight Kit loadout or the War Machine’s Arsenal and War Machine’s Hover Jets loadout. As well as being Marvel-themed and centred around the weapons and flight tech, these items are a lot of fun and offer a unique superhero combat style.

General weapons and items

A fair few items have been removed and added, as is usually the case with Blitz Royale updates / Image credit: Epic Games and Marvel

Along with the new Marvel items, certain weapons and other items have also been added to Blitz, while others have been removed due to adjustments to the loot pool.

The following items have been added to the loot pool within the Silver Llama, Golden Llama and Supply Drop crates:

Heisted Accelerant Shotgun

Heisted Blink Mag SMG

Heisted Breacher Shotgun

Heisted Run ‘N’ Gun SMG

Hop Rock Dualies

Lawless Accelerant Holo Twister AR

Lawless Blink Pump & Dump

Lawless Explosive Mammoth Pistol

Lawless Rift Launcher

Lawless Trinity Assault Rifle

Lawless Twinfire Slap Shotgun

Several items and weapons have also been removed from the Blitz loot pool (for now at least):

The impact of and reaction to Marvel Blitz: Stark Island

Impact wise, the numbers for the Blitz Royale game mode saw a significant spike when Marvel Blitz: Stark Island went live. The player count for Blitz was pushed to over 100,000 players. According to Fortnite.gg, at the time of writing, September 16, 2025, Blitz has seen a 24-hour peak of 106,367, and it currently has over 65,000 players. The numbers don’t lie, and there’s no doubt that the Marvel and Iron Man update has had a positive impact on the player count of Blitz Royale.

The player response to the new mode has been a bit mixed, with some praising it for being new and fun, but others complaining about the jetpack mechanics and Stark rifle. On a Reddit thread about the mode, user Ok_yeahsureright states,

“I’m digging it. I always like new. That Iron Man rifle, though. It’s no bueno. I pick up the Spire every chance I get.” The Stark Industries Energy Rifle can be a bit frustrating to use, so it’s not surprising that players are taking issue with it.

User Adamangus2006 puts forward their irritation at the jetpack, saying,

“I did not miss the war machine jetpack.”

This opinion is seconded by BrolysFavoriteNephew,

“Played about 10 games today, made me realize how much I truly hated the jetpack.”

ANIMATIK conveys the general consensus pretty well with their comment,

“Goated update, But war machine jet pack is still annoying.”

All in all, there is a good amount of new content to enjoy in the Marvel Blitz: Stark Island Blitz Royale update. Although the weapons can be a bit finicky and the jetpacks are more than a little frustrating, Marvel and Iron Man fans are sure to find a lot to love here. Even those who aren’t big fans of the superhero behemoth that is Marvel – or the character of Iron Man – can have a fun time with this update. If you don’t enjoy flying mechanics, though, it’s probably best to stay away from Blitz Royale for the time being, as there is currently a lot of jetpack use going on.
