Guinness World Records shared the achievement on its official X account, stating: “New record: Largest serving of Nigerian style jollof rice 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz) achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.”
The monumental cooking event took place on September 12, 2025, at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. Hilda, who previously earned a Guinness World Record in 2023 for the longest cooking marathon, aimed to break yet another remarkable milestone.
The event received support from leading brands and notable figures, including Funke Akindele, Enioluwa, Tomike, Pastor Idowu, and Bamidele Abiodun, the wife of Ogun State Governor. Together, they helped Hilda prepare what is now recognized as the largest pot of jollof rice ever made.
While the achievement was widely celebrated, the cook-off also drew some criticism, with a few attendees claiming the rice did not meet their taste expectations, sparking discussions online. Nevertheless, the scale and organization of the event cemented Hilda’s status as one of Nigeria’s most daring culinary talents.
