A 28-year-old woman identified as Juliet has tragically lost her life in the Ajah area of Lagos State after a heated argument turned violent.
According to Punch, Juliet had an altercation with a yet-to-be-identified man on Monday, during which she reportedly smashed the windshield of his car. Enraged by the act, the man allegedly called on some local boys, who attacked and tied her up. Witnesses said she was taken to an uncompleted building, where she was brutally beaten until she went into a coma.
Attempts to rescue her came too late — by the time she was discovered and rushed for medical help, she had already died.
A resident who spoke about the incident described it as a “needless tragedy,” stressing that while Juliet may have been wrong to damage the car, her death was completely unjustified. The source added that the situation should have been reported to the police rather than taking the law into their own hands.
Another local security source suggested that Juliet might have been under the influence of alcohol at the time, which could have contributed to the escalation.
Police operatives were said to have arrived at the scene soon after the incident. Three suspects, including the man’s wife, have been arrested in connection with the assault. The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, for further investigation.
Confirming the development, Lagos State Police spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, said the matter is under active investigation.
