There will be another Pokémon card launch this weekend for anyone who missed out
More than 500 fans reportedly lined up to be part of EB Game’s Pokémon Pop-up event at Toronto’s Eaton Centre mall, but don’t worry if you missed out, it’s still running until January 15.
Coming up this weekend, the team is also planning a major launch of Mega Lucario and the Moltres Elite collection for Pokémon card fans. The store also has lots of Pokémon-themed merchandise, video games and more.
“Inside The Collectors Vault, fans can explore The Legendary Wall, featuring ultra-rare and display-worthy collectibles, plus a rotating lineup of exclusive drops, live-stream card pulls, photo opportunities with costumed Pokémon characters, a claw machine filled with plushies, and a giant pull machine filled with trading cards valued at $5K,” reads EB Games updated press release.
I was able to take a walk through the store the other day, and while I found it to have lots more Pokémon stuff than the average EB Games store, there wasn’t that much that made me feel like the experience was that elevated. There is a small museum-type wall near the front filled with interesting Pokémon collectibles, but beyond that, it’s just a retail shop. If you spend over $75, you can pull a slot machine for a chance to win rare cards, and if you want, there are also claw machines that cost $3 per try to win stuffed Pokémon items.
So far, it seems like this pop-up has been a success for EB Games, so it expects to launch more across the country in the future.
