The average price of new energy vehicles (NEVs) in China fell to RMB 158,000 ($21,800) in September, dropping below RMB 160,000 for the first time, according to CPCA Secretary-General Cui Dongshu. The figure marks a steady decline from RMB 171,000 in 2024 and RMB 184,000 in 2023, reflecting stronger demand in lower-priced segments.

Cui noted that smaller electric models led adoption, with microcars reaching full electrification, subcompact cars at 80%, and compact models around 44%. Overall, NEVs accounted for 57.8% of passenger car sales in September, up from 48% in 2024, while traditional fuel vehicles continued to lose market share. [IThome, in Chinese]
