African stars submit entries for the 2026 Grammy Awards

The road to the 2026 Grammy Awards has officially begun, and African artists are making a strong showing this year.

According to Grammy monitoring platform The Grammy Guru, several top acts from the continent, including Wizkid, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, and Tyla, have submitted their songs and projects for consideration across major categories.

Leading the list of submissions is Wizkid, who entered his latest album Morayo for Album of the Year and Best Global Album. His single Piece of My Heart was submitted for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best African Music Performance, while his self-directed Kese (Dance) was entered for Best Music Video. The Starboy boss also put forward Billionaires Club, his collaboration with Olamide and Darkoo, for Best African Music Performance.

Burna Boy’s album No Sign of Weakness was also submitted in both Album of the Year and Best Global Album categories. His soulful track Love is being considered for Best African Music Performance, while his collaboration with French artist Joé Dwèt Filé, Kampé III, was entered for Best Global Music Performance.

Ayra Starr, one of Afrobeats’ brightest young voices, submitted her hit Hot Body for Record of the Year and Song of the Year, and her joint effort with Wizkid, Gimme Dat, for both Best African Music Performance and Best Music Video.

Joining the wave of African representation is South African singer Tyla, who made several key submissions following her Grammy success earlier this year. Her hit Push 2 Start was entered for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best African Music Performance, and Best Music Video. She also submitted Is It for Best Pop Solo Performance, and One Call (TMXO Remix) for Best Remixed Recording.

With these submissions, African artists are once again set to make a powerful impression at the 2026 Grammy Awards. The Recording Academy will vote in the coming weeks, with the official list of nominees expected to be announced in November 2025.

Recall that Nigerian superstar Davido recently joined the Recording Academy as a voting member, further strengthening the continent’s growing influence in the global music industry.
