Chelsea have officially confirmed the jersey number that Alejandro Garnacho will wear following his recent transfer from Manchester United. The 21-year-old winger finalised his move from Old Trafford over the weekend and was present at Stamford Bridge to witness his new teammates claim a convincing 2-0 triumph against local rivals Fulham.
Garnacho has been assigned the number 49 shirt as he begins his journey with the Blues.
Speaking upon the completion of his transfer, the Argentine expressed his enthusiasm about joining the West London club. He emphasised his competitive drive and strong character, describing these qualities as perfectly aligned with Chelsea’s ambitious culture, particularly following their recent Club World Cup success.
He stated, ‘I have a winning mentality and I have passion and a big personality. ‘It’s a natural fit with a club like Chelsea, which have just won the Club World Cup. Chelsea are at the top now, and it’s important to fight for the club like the fans deserve.’
The young forward has already commenced training sessions at the club’s Cobham facility and could potentially feature when Chelsea travel to face Brentford on Saturday, September 13th, 2025, marking what would be his debut appearance for his new side.
