Boston Red Sox star third baseman Alex Bregman has been out of action since May 23, when he strained his right quad in the series opener against the Baltimore Orioles at Fenway Park. The two-time World Series champion was shifted to a ten-day IL and has been itching to get back on the field ever since.
He has now missed 11 games because of his injury, but some sources close to the Red Sox are now reporting that the Gold Glover might be nearing full recovery soon and will hopefully rejoin the roster in time to uplift the struggles of the ballclub, who currently occupy the fourth spot in the AL East standings.
Alex Bregman Provides an Unexpected Progress on His Recovery From the Quad Strain
Beat reporter for the Red Sox and podcast host Nat Gordon shared a post on X.com revealing what Bregman told him about updates on his recovery from the right quad strain sustained on May 23. The caption read, “Alex Bregman says his recovery is going at ‘warp speed.’ He wouldn’t say a timetable but said his recovery has been 10 times better than he hoped.”
Bregman made a blockbuster move to the Red Sox after signing a three-year, $120 million deal during the offseason, thus ending his nine-year-long journey with the Houston Astros, where he won two World Series titles with them and became a two-time All-Star. Bregman started the 2025 MLB season on a high and produced quality at-bats at the plate while showcasing stellar defense at third base.
His injury has most definitely rattled the fans and the ballclub, who at one point were contending for the top spot in the division but have now slumped to the fourth spot after inconsistent performances in both departments of the game. After sharing the spoils of a four-game series with the Orioles, they were swept by the Milwaukee Brewers in a three-game series.
They bounced back from that loss with a series win against the Atlanta Braves but have now lost a series yet again, as the Los Angeles Angels have taken games 1 and 2 against the Red Sox in the three-game series, with the series finale due to be played on Wednesday at Fenway Park.
Alex Bregman is Projecting Praiseworthy Numbers in His First Full Season With the Red Sox
Bregman has a .299 batting average, with 11 home runs, 35 RBIs, and .958 OPS in 51 games played so far this campaign. He has amassed 59 hits in 197 at-bats, out of which 17 are extra-base hits. If nurtured back to full health soon, the Silver Slugger awardee is projected to hit over 25 home runs and register more than 80 RBIs in 2025.

His teammates and the Red Sox faithful will be hopeful that their star third baseman can make a quick recovery from his injury and rejoin the roster to get them out of the current losing slump.
