Not many predicted AFC Bournemouth to be on the heels of the Premier League leaders, but Andoni Iraola’s men are certainly defying the odds through the opening two-and-a-half months of the new campaign.
Tyler Adams and his Cherries teammates are sitting in second place heading into Sunday’s trip to Manchester City. The veteran U.S. men’s national team midfielder has continued to play ample minutes for the South Coast club this season, starting in all nine of his league appearances to date this fall.
Adams most recently picked up an assist in Bournemouth’s 2-0 home victory over Nottingham Forest on Sunday, logging his latest 90 minutes this year. The 26-year-old hasn’t missed a beat in his second full season for Bournemouth, quickly becoming one of the first names on Andoni’s lineup card.
A healthy and fit Adams could play a large role in Sunday’s trip to the Etihad, especially knowing a victory paired with an Arsenal loss this weekend could move the Cherries only one point off of the top spot.
In Germany, a trio of former NYCFC products meet in Bundesliga play as James Sands takes on Gio Reyna and Joe Scally. Noahkai Banks and Augsburg take on Borussia Dortmund.
In Italy, Weston McKennie and Juventus visit Cremonese while Ben Cremaschi and Parma host Bologna.
