While NFL fans watched the San Francisco 49ers play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium, those watching the game on CBS were infatuated with CBS analyst Tony Romo’s look.
Romo was in the booth with his play-by-play partner, Jim Nantz, and got some airtime as is usual with the CBS broadcasts. The fans, though, were tuned in and turned off, to a degree, by how Romo looked on their TV screens.

NFL Fans Rail Against Tony Romo and His Look
When Romo appeared on camera, his face looked deep tan. Other fans also commented heavily on his look.
One fan captured Romo’s on-screen face and decided it looked like one that the fan saw on actor Tim Allen’s face from his movie, “Christmas with the Kranks.”

Another fan posted on X thought Romo had a rather “crazy tan” when it was popping up on screen.

This fan made a rather matter-of-fact comment about the CBS NFL analyst’s look, stating, “Bruh what is Tony Romo’s spray tan.” For this fan, there was also a little concern that Romo might have spent too much time in a tanning booth. The fan wrote on X, “Romo self tan this morning?”

One fan seemed to be harkening back to “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” in a reference to those oompa-loompas. The fan wrote on X, “Tony Romo makeup application.”

Romo has been with Nantz for a period of time and made news early in his analyst career by having a knack for telling viewers about plays on the field. It’s not that Romo wasn’t able to talk about the plays as they happened. No, he was able to even let viewers in on what plays were being called even before they took place.
NFL fans know that Romo had a stellar career as the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. His booth style has drawn a lot of praise and criticism since joining CBS. But these fans want to know more about that face tan. Maybe he’ll give a little insight before Sunday’s game ends.
