The captain of Manchester United Bruno Fernandes is reportedly set to leave to a club which is outside Europe.
There are reports that the Portuguese international may attract interest from Saudi Arabia, with Al-Ittihad reportedly considering a move for the Manchester United captain. Bruno Fernandes was the focus of attention when he missed a penalty in United’s 1-1 draw at Fulham on Sunday.
Fernandes had informed Al-Hilal that he intended to remain at Old Trafford for at least another year. It remains unclear whether any offer would convince Manchester United to part ways with their midfielder with just a few days remaining in the summer transfer window.
The Saudi based club are said to have also had talks with the Portuguese’s camp, and the discussions have been positive. Fernandes has also made it clear that he is open to moving to Saudi Arabia if Manchester United are open to the decision.
He said,
“In the day that the club thinks that I’m too much or it’s time to part ways, football is like this, you never know it.”
Fernandes is under contract at United until 2027 and the club has the option of an additional year. He joined United from Sporting Lisbon during the January transfer window in 2020.
The Portugal international captained United to League Cup and FA Cup triumphs in 2023 and 2024 but United lost two Europa League finals with Fernandes in the starting XI in 2021 and 2025, as well as the 2023 FA Cup final.
