Chelsea could once again be busy during this summer’s transfer window.
The Blues have spent in excess of £1.5 billion since being taken over by their American owners in 2022, with the likes of Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez and Mykhaylo Mudryk among those to have arrived at Stamford Bridge.
The West London club’s owners have focussed on signing young talent from around the world, most recently agreeing a deal to sign winger Geovany Quenda from Portuguese side Sporting CP.
Now, though, it appears that Chelsea are eyeing a move to re-sign one of their former academy stars.
According to TBR Football, the Blues are considering a move to sign Nottingham Forest full-back Ola Aina.
The 28-year-old was a star of Chelsea’s academy during his youth but departed Stamford Bridge to join Italian outfit Torino in 2019, having made just six senior appearances for the club.
Aina played more than 100 times for Torino, but left Turin in 2023 and joined Forest ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
Aina played just six times for Chelsea
He has since established himself as a key player at The City Ground, but the report claims that his impressive displays have attracted interest from his former side.
The report claims that Chelsea are plotting a move to re-sign the full-back, who departed Stamford Bridge for less than £9 million six years ago.
The Blues will likely face competition for the player’s signature, though, with several sides likely to be interested in a deal for the Nigeria international.
Aina’s current contract with Forest is set to run until the end of the current campaign and, although Forest have the option to extend it by a further 12 months, the report suggests that the club are desperate to agree a new long-term deal with the player.
Chelsea are said to have been scouting the player closely of late, with a view to potentially making a move to sign him this summer.
