So far this summer the West London outfit have added a number of new stars to Maresca’s squad, including Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Jamie Gittens.

Now, though, it has emerged that Chelsea are cedging closer to another statement signing.

According to CaughtOffside, Blues target Alejandro Garnacho has formally informed current club Manchester United of his desire to leave this summer.

The report claims that the Argentine winger is fully committed to the idea of a move to Chelsea and has already agreed personal terms with the world champions, rejecting offers from elsewhere in the process.

United had initially valued the 21-year-old at around £70 million, but the report claims that their need to sell players in order to adhere to Financial Fair Play regulations has prompted United to lower their asking price to around £40 million.

Garnacho joined the Red Devils from Spanish side Atletico Madrid back in 2020 and has since played more than 140 times for the club across all competitions.

In that time he has scored 26 goals and registered 22 assists, but he is keen to leave Old Trafford after falling somewhat out of favour since the arrival of Ruben Amorim in November last year.

It is claimed that Chelsea’s current offer for the Argentina international consists of an initial fee of £30 million, plus potential bonuses.

The two clubs have also discussed the possibility of a swap deal, with Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku, Axel Disasi and Renato Veiga among those mentioned during discussions.
