Sterling has been left in limbo since the end of last season when it became apparent that he would not be remaining at loan club Arsenal in the long term.

Although the England international has been training at Chelsea’s Cobham training facilities, it has been away from Enzo Maresca’s first-team squad.

With two years remaining on his contract, the Blues are looking to facilitate a permanent exit for the 30-year-old, who is one of the club’s biggest earners.

According to talkSPORT, there are three teams in the capital that are contemplating whether to try to sign Sterling over the next 11 days.

While it is known that Chelsea would rather sell Sterling, there is seemingly an understanding that they may have to contemplate another loan agreement in the right circumstances.

As has been previously reported, Sterling’s preference is to remain in London, increasing the chances of one of the aforementioned trio winning the race for his signature.

For varying reasons, all three clubs are in need of strengthening their respective squads as soon as possible, and may be viewed as Sterling’s realistic best options given the trajectory of his career.

In 28 appearances for Arsenal where he accumulated just 1,143 minutes of football, just one goal and five assists were contributed.

Why would Premier League trio want to sign Sterling? With Crystal Palace about to sell Eberechi Eze to Arsenal and there being the possibility of a lengthy Conference League campaign, Oliver Glasner needs attacking additions.

Sterling would bring European experience to the squad and may view Selhurst Park as the ideal destination to reboot his career.

Meanwhile, Fulham are yet to make any notable signings this summer and Marco Silva is becoming increasingly desperate to add more creativity to his squad.

As for West Ham, Sterling has previously worked with Graham Potter at Chelsea and could benefit from that familiarity.
