George Andrie played defensive end for the Dallas Cowboys from 1962 to 1972, and was a key member of the original “Doomsday Defense.” Drafted in the sixth round out of Marquette, Andrie quickly became one of the most dependable and productive linemen of his era. He recorded five straight Pro Bowl selections (1965–1969) and was named All-Pro multiple times, known for his strength, relentless motor, and clutch play. He played in Super Bowl V and helped the Cowboys win their first championship in Super Bowl VI.

Best known for:
Andrie best known for being a pillar of the Doomsday Defense, consistently pressuring quarterbacks and serving as a quiet but dominant presence on the edge throughout the 1960s and early ’70s.
Lesser known fact:
Before joining the NFL, Andrie played college football at Marquette University, which disbanded its football program shortly after he left in 1960. As a result, Andrie became one of the last NFL players ever drafted from Marquette, making him a rare and lasting representative of a once-proud football tradition.
