Courtney VanderSloot injury update: Sky guard gets awful ACL news after leaving game vs. Fever

Courtney VanderSloot is one of the most-respected players in the WNBA, as the 15-year veteran brings a wealth of experience to the Sky. However, as Chicago hosted the Fever on Saturday night, the Sky lost the guard early in the game.

VanderSloot needed to be helped off the court after suffering a lower-body injury while driving to the bucket. The veteran is Chicago’s second-leading scorer, averaging 12.0 points entering Saturday night’s matchup.

Courtney VanderSloot injury updateVanderSloot was diagnosed with a season-ending torn ACL on Sunday, a day after she exited against the Fever.

Courtney Vandersloot underwent an MRI yesterday that revealed a right torn anterior crucial ligament (ACL), an injury she sustained in the June 7th game against Indiana. Vandersloot will miss the remainder of the 2025 WNBA season and undergo surgery to repair the injury.

Courtney Vandersloot has been officially ruled out for the remainder of today’s Chicago Sky game versus the Indiana Fever after suffering a knee injury in the first quarter.

Hoping it isn’t as bad as it looked.

“She’s our engine,” Marsh said. “She’s our captain, our leader out there.”

Additionally, guard Hailey Van Lith addressed how the team could potentially move forward without VanderSloot.

“It’s heartbreaking…[Especially for] someone that means as much as Sloot does to this organization,” Van Lith said. “Whatever is in store in the future for this team, I trust that we will find a way to make this moment mean something in the end.”

Courtney VanderSloot ageVanderSloot is 36 years old and has been in the WNBA for the past 15 years. After playing in Chicago for the first 12 years of her career, she joined the Liberty for the last two seasons before returning to the Sky this season.
