Some Anambra residents allege they have been unlawfully detained for three days by Governor Soludo’s security operatives, Ndi Aka-Odo, crying out from behind bars over mistreatment and demanding intervention.

Some residents of Anambra State have accused Governor Charles Soludo’s security operatives, popularly known as Ndi Aka-Odo, of unlawful detention.

According to the detainees, they have been held in custody for the past three days without trial or access to legal representation. Crying out from behind bars, they alleged mistreatment and appealed for urgent intervention from the authorities.

The group, which was set up to clamp down on touting and insecurity in the state, has faced mounting criticism in recent months, with residents accusing its operatives of harassment, extortion, and brutality.

The state government is yet to respond to the latest allegations.

By law, ex-vice presidents get six months of security, which ended for Harris on July 21, but Biden had quietly extended it for another year.

The decision, effective September 1, also strips her of threat intelligence and federal protection for her Los Angeles home, just as she prepares for a book tour.

California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass condemned the move as politically motivated and dangerous. Harris, through an aide, thanked the Secret Service for their service.
