After a demanding season and struggling with foot, back, and heat-related issues, Emma Raducanu decided to take a step back following her loss to Lin Zhu at the 2025 Ningbo Open. The 23-year-old shifted her focus to rehab, fitness work, and something she says she has really been missing- spending quality time at home with her parents in Bromley.

During her recent roundtable interview at the National Tennis Centre in southwest London, besides discussing her off-season plans, Raducanu also paid tribute to the comfort of being at home. “I’m just so settled,” she said.

A big part of Raducanu’s reset has simply been being around her parents again. They have been an important part of her tennis journey from the beginning. Being back home with them seems to have given her the comfort she needed, and the way she spent her November 2025 just proves that.

“I’ve barely been in the UK this year because I’ve been competing so much, but I think just spending really good quality time with my parents has been so nice. I have loved just being in Bromley. It just reminds me of when I was a younger kid and it’s the same bedroom, same everything,” she added.

Being home has allowed her to reconnect with familiar neighborhood spots, which brought her a sense of calm she had been missing. “Bromley has some amazing speciality coffee shops now that didn’t exist a few years ago. And I’ve been trying every new spot. It’s been really nice, and obviously so much greenery, and it’s been fun actually,” Raducanu said.

The Brit also blended into the London routine, like taking the train during rush hour. “I’ve been commuting on the train. So I’ve been part of rush hour every day, which has also been an experience. But it’s like my switch off. As soon as I get on the South Western to Waterloo, I’m just like: ‘My day is done now,’” she concluded.

Raducanu Reflects on Her Emotional Growth in the 2025 Season
Raducanu had a rough start in 2025. She went into the season hoping for a clean restart in Auckland, but had to pull out due to a back problem. She lost 1–6, 0–6 to Iga Świątek in the third round of the Australian Open, and a first-round defeat to Cristina Bucsa in Singapore only added to her frustration. Following that, she split up with coach Nick Cavaday.

Then came the infamous stalker incident in Dubai, where Raducanu ended up in tears, hiding behind the umpire’s chair as security stepped in. For someone already dealing with injuries and pressure, that was a big emotional low point.

But as the year went on, Raducanu gradually found her footing again. Teaming up with Rafael Nadal’s former coach, Francisco Roig, gave her training more structure and direction.

Looking back, she admits the tough months taught her a lot. “I think the start of the year was not very smooth. I think I went through some very difficult times on and off the court … But I think it really taught me the strength that I have to pull myself out of it. Also what I need to do to avoid falling back in again,” she said.

“A lot of it is spending time studying, spending time learning, spending time nurturing my brain and just constantly that’s something I need. Learning about myself has been a great thing. So I feel very content,” the Brit added.

Raducanu ended her 2025 season on a much better note than she began. She climbed from outside the top 60 to No. 29, and ending the year back home in Bromley felt like the perfect way to wrap up a season and recover for a better 2026.
