Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare has revealed that he would love a strike partnership with retired Inter Milan striker Obafemi Martins, Soccernet.ng reports.

Arokodare just broke into the Super Eagles squad this year after a series of impressive performances for his club Genk. The Nigerian striker contributed 23 goals and seven assists in 45 appearances in the just-concluded season.

Arokodare made his Super Eagles debut in March, in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Rwanda.

Now, he’s with the team for the Unity Cup. Although he did not feature in the first game against Ghana. He has a good shot at playing the final against Jamaica on Saturday.

The 24-year-old striker was asked about the current or retired Super Eagles forward who he would like to be his striker partner. And Arokodare named Martins due to his speed and explosive style of play.

“It probably would be Martin’s because he’s explosive, he’s strong, so I think if I play alongside him, it will be difficult for other defenders,” Arokodare told Soccernet.ng exclusively.

“Because I’m strong in the air and Martins is explosive on the ground with his feet. It would be a lot of headache for the defenders.”

Tolu Arokodare did not feature in the Unity Cup against Ghana last time out. But he will likely get minutes against Jamaica in the final as coach Eric Chelle could make changes to his lineup.

The 24-year-old striker gives the Super Eagles some presence in the box, especially if a fullback like Ismaila Sodiq who likes to spam crosses plays.

Arokodare will hope to get his maiden goal for Nigeria and spur the team to success in London.
