Apple has been diversifying its iPhone assembly in the last few years in order to reduce its reliance on China as the main manufacturing hub. India is one of the main beneficiaries of this move, and a new report from The Economic Times suggests that Foxconn is planning to double down on its iPhone assembly in the country.

The report suggests Foxconn will assemble 25-30 million iPhones in India by the end of this year. Based on estimates provided by an unspecified source, Foxconn assembled around 12 million iPhones in India last year, meaning that the 2025 figures would more than double production.

The key for Foxconn is its brand-new facility in Bengaluru, which when finished, would be the second-largest iPhone assembly plant in the contract manufacturer’s portfolio. The new report suggests that Foxconn has already set up trial iPhone production runs over the last few months. Both Apple and Foxconn have declined to comment on this development.
