Ibadan, Oyo state – Akin Alabi, lawmaker representing Egbeda federal constituency, has recalled how he hawked live chickens on the streets of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
Legit.ng reports that Alabi, also a businessman, is the founder of NairaBET, Nigeria’s first sports betting platform.

“When December (2001) came, no one was coming to buy (the chickens). I went to Iwo Road myself to hawk the chickens on the street. My respect for street vendors tripled that year.”He added:
“Firstly, the plan was we are going to sell directly from our poultry. The sales were not encouraging so we had to go out. As newbies in street selling, we went for where there was little competition. And we were right.
