The fan claimed to have no phone, asking for assistance.
Akindele questioned the fan’s honesty, pointing out the contradiction in their message.
Nollywood star Funke Akindele has stirred reactions after addressing a fan who pleaded with her for a phone on social media.
The unidentified fan had sent a message begging for assistance, claiming to have no phone at all. However, Akindele quickly called out the inconsistency, asking how the person managed to send the message without a device. “What did you use to type the message? Why are you lying?” she queried.
The actress emphasized the importance of honesty, stressing that there’s no need to fabricate stories to attract sympathy. She further pointed out that contentment matters more than owning luxury gadgets. “Is it compulsory to use a big phone? Contentment is key,” she noted.
Sharing her surprise, Akindele explained that she only wanted to greet her fans when she stumbled upon the unusual request. According to her, social media has increasingly become a place where people try to exploit celebrities with exaggerated or false claims.
Her remarks have since sparked discussions online about entitlement, truthfulness, and the growing culture of fans seeking financial or material help from public figures.
