Joe Rogan is not the only one extremely high on Gable Steveson’s potential.

The 2020 Olympic gold medalist in freestyle wrestling and five-time All-American out of the University of Minnesota has turned his attention to MMA after brief stints in American football and WWE.

Many have called wrestling the best base for athletes looking for success inside the cage, and Steveson has that in spades.

He hasn’t needed to use it thus far in his career, instead flattening both of his MMA opponents with strikes. Steveson most recently won via KO in 24 seconds under the Anthony Pettis FC banner to stay unbeaten and further build the hype behind his name.

Rogan sees big things ahead for Steveson and believes he could compete with a number of ranked UFC heavyweights already. But one ex-fighter has gone a step further than the longtime commentator…

Matt Brown thinks Gable Steveson is already good enough to be UFC heavyweight championRogan is not alone with his view of Steveson’s chances of success in a shallow heavyweight division.

While the commentator has supported Jon Jones’ big prediction for Steveson’s UFC future, former welterweight Matt Brown thinks the 25-year-old already has what it takes to be the heavyweight champion right now.

‘The Immortal’ expressed that opinion during an episode of The Fighter vs. The Writer on MMA Fighting, saying he would back Steveson to beat both Tom Aspinall and Ciryl Gane right now.

“He could be champion literally today,” Brown said.

“If he went in and fought Tom Aspinall or Ciryl Gane or whoever is the champion, I don’t think there’s a chance anyone has against him. Obviously, you always have a chance in MMA, but I think he could be a champion tomorrow.

“I’d pick him to beat the champion today, keeping it real,” he continued. “I wouldn’t put my money against it if they fought tomorrow. I think Aspinall’s best chance would probably be submission.”

LATEST NEWS: Diego Lopes apologizes to Australia in advance for what he’ll do to Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 325Gable Steveson wants to arrive in the UFC at the White HouseIt may be a while until Brown’s prediction for how Steveson would fare against the likes of Aspinall and Gane gets tested. But it may not be long until he gets the chance to enhance his reputation as one of MMA’s top prospects inside the Octagon.

After a couple of regional wins to kick off his MMA career, the elite wrestler plans to stay busy by reeling off some more victories in the first half of 2026.

Then, in a perfect world, Steveson would debut at UFC White House on June 14 in Washington D.C.

“I would really like to debut at the White House,” Steveson said during an appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience.

“I would like to do one or two more fights before then, and then if I can sign, do a big release, ‘Hey, he’s signed, good job,’ and then debut at the White House.

“That’s my perfect world,” he added.
