It’s not a recognized – or even existing – combination, but Hayden Wilde is preparing for something truly unique and brutally demanding: on August 30 he plans to race the T100 French Riviera, and just one day later line up for the WTCS event at the very same venue.
That challenge would be daunting enough under normal circumstances, but it comes on the heels of Wilde only just making his comeback last week – a return he marked in style with victory at T100 London, following a serious crash earlier this season. Wilde now has his sights set on winning in France, before facing off the very next day against his long-time rival Alex Yee, in what will be their first head-to-head clash of 2025.
Speaking on the All In Triathlon podcast with Aaron Royle and Jelle Geens, Wilde admitted he’s fortunate to even have the chance to attempt the double. WTCS rules prohibit athletes from competing within 24 hours of another race. “Luckily there are 25 hours between the starts, so I’m in the fine,” he explained.
Another stroke of fortune: the WTCS race will be over the Sprint Distance rather than the Olympic Distance. “My body tends to feel pretty good one or two days after a race – I normally feel it probably on day three so I’m hoping that that’s the case again.”
