Come for the jokes, stay for the music
If you’re tired of waiting for GTA VI, don’t worry. An indie game developer shared a satirical game set in Toronto that spoofs the original top-down Grand Theft Auto games.
It’s called Grand Theft Toronto and you can play it for free online in a browser. You also need a keyboard since this is basically an old-school flash game.
All the street names are recognizable, which is fun for a GTA game.
The goal is to deliver Tim Hortons around the city while avoiding cops and aggressive Toronto drivers. You control your car with the arrow keys, and there are even a few vehicles to unlock.
There are also jokes, including shoutouts to the Cash Man at Oliver Jewellery and former Toronto Mayor Mel Lastman. Overall, it’s a nice Toronto deep cut, and anyone who’s lived in the area for the past 20 years will likely find at least one joke they like.
