Charles Awuzie claimed that activist Deji Adeyanju may have hired social media critic VeryDarkMan (VDM) as part of a political strategy to strengthen his activist image and bury past controversies.
He argued that the relationship benefits Deji more, suggesting Adeyanju’s activism is tied to political survival and loyalty to figures like Festus Keyamo and Atiku Abubakar.
Social commentator Charles Awuzie has stirred controversy after alleging that activist Deji Adeyanju may have “hired” online sensation VeryDarkMan (VDM) as part of a larger political strategy.
In a Facebook post, Awuzie argued that Deji is not merely an activist but a calculated politician who understands how to manipulate public perception. According to him, while many assume VDM works independently, the relationship between both men may not be as it seems.
“To seal this smart move, he hired VDM – oh no, you thought VDM hired him? Well, one of them hired the other. I don’t know who hired who but that relationship has benefited Deji more than it has benefited VDM,” Awuzie wrote.
He suggested that Adeyanju’s partnership with VDM has helped him strengthen his activist persona while burying older controversies tied to his university days. Awuzie further tied Deji’s political loyalty to figures like Festus Keyamo and Atiku Abubakar, hinting that Adeyanju’s activism is deeply connected to his political survival.
The claims have since triggered online debates, with supporters of both Adeyanju and VDM defending their credibility, while critics say the allegations reinforce concerns about the commercialization of activism in Nigeria.
