The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has dismissed officer Chukwu Nancy Ngozi for allegedly masterminding the kidnapping of her elder brother, alongside another officer, Aliyu Usman.
Both were found guilty of criminal conspiracy, theft, illegal possession of firearms, and kidnapping.
According to NIS spokesperson ACI Akinsola Akinlabi, the disciplinary action was part of a broader review that led to multiple dismissals, demotions, and retirements within the service.
The decision follows an earlier police arrest linking Chukwu and her NSCDC sister, Juliet Chukwu, to the abduction of their brother and another victim in Enugu State.
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has dismissed a junior officer, Chukwu Nancy Ngozi, for allegedly masterminding the kidnapping of her elder brother.
Ngozi and another officer, Aliyu Usman, were found guilty of criminal conspiracy, theft, illegal possession of firearms, and kidnapping following internal disciplinary proceedings.
According to a statement by the Service’s spokesperson, ACI Akinsola Akinlabi, the disciplinary hearings were concluded on April 14 and September 4, 2025, respectively.
Akinlabi noted that the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) recently reviewed 31 disciplinary cases involving NIS personnel, based on recommendations from the Board’s Disciplinary and General-Purpose Committee (BDGPC), which met on July 11, 2025.
He stated: “Eight officers were dismissed from the Service for serious misconduct and violation of Service Regulations. In addition, five officers were compulsorily retired for offences bordering on misconduct.”
He further revealed that “eight officers were demoted by one rank, while five others received written warnings for misconduct.”
Akinlabi added, “The Board also reviewed the appeal of dismissal of two officers, which were rejected for lack of merit. However, one officer is to be reinstated following a successful appeal, while two officers were exonerated of all charges.”
Reiterating the Service’s commitment, Akinlabi said: “The disciplinary measures underscore the Board’s commitment to maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards across all cadres of the Service.”
He assured that such actions will continue “without fear or favour, in strict compliance with extant rules and regulations.”
It would be recalled that in July, the Enugu State Police Command arrested Chukwu and her sister, Juliet Chukwu, an NSCDC officer, for allegedly planning the abduction of their elder brother, Mr. Friday Chukwu, along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, where a ransom of ₦30 million was reportedly paid.
The sisters were also accused of involvement in the kidnapping of Mr. Dennis Igwe, General Manager of China Oriental Mining Company, in the same area.
