iOS 19 should be ‘less glitchy’ than past updates, per report

We’re just a few weeks away from iOS 19’s WWDC debut. And per a new report, one of Apple’s big aims for this year is to address the quality issues that have plagued past software releases.

iOS 19 may pack a new design yet prove less glitchy somehow

Mark Gurman writes at Bloomberg:

Besides the AI additions and interface changes, Apple is pushing engineers to ensure that this year’s releases are more functional and less glitchy. Past upgrades were criticized for bugs and features that sometimes didn’t work properly.

Big new design changes in iOS 19 and “less glitchy”?

It seems too good to be true.

Certainly it’s good to hear that Apple’s working to ensure its software is “more functional and less glitchy.”

But that seems a feat far easier said than done.

Gurman’s mention of the increased priority being placed on stability, though, will hopefully bear good fruit.

9to5Mac’s Take

To be fair, Apple shipped an awful lot of new features last year in iOS 18 and its subsequent point updates. Even with a design overhaul in the cards for this year, the company could still have relatively conservative plans for implementing other new features.

And honestly, for many users, the design changes will be a bigger deal than any new features inside the Calendar or Notes apps, for example.

Maybe iOS 19 will prove the rare unicorn: an OS update that combines a brand new design with Snow Leopard-like stability.

It’s probably too much to ask. But I am nonetheless excited to see what Apple has in store for us next month.
