Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham was named the best English player for the 2024/25 season ahead of Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham.
The 22-year-old wrote his name into the history books after he was crowned winner of the award by becoming the first person to win the award while playing outside England since Owen Hargreaves achieved this feat in 1996.
He played a key role in England’s promotion in the UEFA Nations League under interim boss Lee Carsley last autumn and their strong start to the FIFA 2026 World Cup European Qualifiers under new head coach Thomas Tuchel in March and June.
The midfielder was instrumental in a 3-1 victory over Greece at Wembley in October and winning the player of the match in a 5-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland in November. He also registered assists against Ireland and against Albania in a 2-0 World Cup qualifying win in March in Thomas Tuchel’s first match in charge of the Three Lions.
Bellingham is yet to play for England this season but is in contention to be named in Friday’s squad for the October games against Wales and Latvia. He missed out last month as he underwent recovery following planned surgery on a shoulder injury.
