Conor McGregor insists his fighting career isn’t over even as fan sentiment continues to turn against him.

At least that’s according to the reaction to McGregor’s latest claim that he will only return to fighting if he’s booked for a stadium event and that he still has “unfinished business” with longtime rival Michael Chandler.

In response to a clip from WWE’s annual WrestleMania spectacle, which took place at 65,000-seat Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas this past weekend, McGregor tweeted “I’ll only come back to a stadium” before later reigniting the flames of a potential Chandler fight. The two have been tied to a potential matchup for years, with Chandler repeatedly calling McGregor out, coaching opposite McGregor on The Ultimate Fighter 31, and then having a scheduled fight fall through at UFC 303 this past June due to a McGregor injury.

McGregor has not fought since breaking his leg in a fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021. His return has been complicated by injury, business and entertainment ventures, political aspirations in his native Ireland, and a number of legal issues including being found liable for sexual assault this past November in relation to an incident that occurred in Dublin in 2018.

Suffice to say, fans aren’t exactly champing at the bit for the former two-division UFC champion’s next fight (if it ever happens). Check out some of the best reactions from the community below.
