UFC boss Dana White has provided somewhat of an update on Islam Makhachev’s potential title fight against Jack Della Maddalena.
After shockingly vacating the UFC lightweight title in pursuit of the welterweight title, Jack Della Maddalena welcomed Islam Makhachev to 170lbs with open arms after beating Belal Muhammad.
Initially, Della Maddalena asked Dana White for the fight to take place in Australia, but unfortunately the timings didn’t align and the promotion announced their return to Australia in September will be a Fight Night.
And with that, Makhachev went on to plead with White for the fight to take place at the legendary Madison Square Garden arena in New York.

The UFC boss started off by announcing that Magomed Ankalaev and Alex Pereira will rematch for the title in the UFC 320 main event on October 4, with Merab Dvalishvili set to defend his strap against Cory Sandhagen in the co-main event.
White then went on to announce that Tom Aspinall’s first undisputed title defence will take place at UFC 321 in Abu Dhabi, with Ciryl Gane controversially being picked as the challenger.
But despite the blockbuster announcements, fans continued to ask White for an update on Makhachev in the live chat.
“Islam, yeah, we’re working on Islam, we’ll have some Islam news soon,” White said as he smirked at the camera.
Khabib Nurmagomedov speculates who could be next after Della MaddalenaAhead of their likely fight at the end of the year, Makhachev continues to get warned about the threat of the Australian, with several former pros picking Della Maddalena to beat the Russian.
And with that, Makhachev’s coach and teammate Khabib Nurmagomedov has admitted that Della Maddalena will be the toughest fight of Makhachev’s career.
Despite that, during a recent interview on the Hustle Show, Khabib was asked who could possibly be next for Makhachev if he gets passed Della Maddalena.
“Who’s even left? There’s (Ian Machado) Garry, there’s Shavkat (Rakhmonov), there’s Kamaru (Usman)… Let’s just imagine hypothetically (Islam wins), I think Kamaru might show up, might be an option. It’s either Shavkat or Usman,” Khabib said.
