“May His Gentle Soul Rest In Peace. Frm. President Muhammad Buhari. Sai Baba…🕊️.”
Muhammadu Buhari served as Nigeria’s military head of state between 1984 and 1985. He later returned to public service in 1994 under the Abacha regime as Chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund, managing key infrastructure projects nationwide.
Buhari contested the presidency multiple times unsuccessfully in 2003, 2007, and 2011 before finally securing victory in 2015 under the All Progressives Congress (APC), defeating incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan. He was re-elected in 2019 and completed his final term in 2023.
His 2015 victory marked a significant milestone in Nigeria’s democratic evolution, as it was the first time an opposition candidate unseated a sitting president at the ballot box.
