A Nigerian woman named Pinkie Barbie has generated significant reactions after voicing her frustration regarding an unexpected 50% hike in her rent.
In a widely circulated video, Pinkie disclosed that upon returning from the market, she discovered a letter from her landlord’s attorneys informing her of the revised rental amount.
The correspondence indicated that her rent had escalated from ₦1 million to ₦1.8 million. Nevertheless, Pinkie disputed this assertion, clarifying that she had been paying ₦1.2 million, not ₦1 million, and questioned the rationale behind the increase.
“So, they have increased my rent today. I just got back from the market and I got this letter. They have increased my rent from ₦1.2 million to ₦1.8 million. Is that not too much?
“Nigeria is already hard enough and people are trying to survive. What’s happening, landlord? Is this not too much?”
“People are struggling already to survive. Nobody is considering anybody. Everybody want to kill everybody,” she said in the video.
