LaNorris Sellers (QB South Carolina)
Film Grade: 89.6 (Late 1st)
After his first year as a starter, it is clear LaNorris Sellers is much-watch TV. His electrifying performances not only caught the attention of fans, but also of all NFL teams looking at taking a quarterback. If he can build on his strong finish to last season, he will have a chance to be the first quarterback taken in the 2026 NFL Draft. In his first year as a starter, he led South Carolina to an 8-4 record, keeping them just outside of the 12-team playoff.
With so much talent and an explosive offense, fans are expecting a big year from Sellers. Last season, LaNorris Sellers finished with 25 total touchdowns (18 passing/ 7 rushing), 7 interceptions, 2,534 passing yards, 674 rushing yards, and a 65.6% completion rate. He has the chance to improve his draft stock playing against a difficult schedule next season
It won’t take much convincing to get a team to fall in love with Sellers’ potential. His rocket arm, combination of speed and power as a runner, and ability to throw the ball deep, will cause NFL scouts’ mouth to water at the thought of what he could be. If he can improve his ball security, limit the amount of damage he takes, and show more signs of the ability to throw with anticipation, he will establish himself as one of the elite quarterbacks and players in the 2026 draft class.
Positives:
Great Size
Strong
Extremely hard to bring to the ground
Rocket arm
Can fit the ball into very tight windows
Explosive and powerful runner
Good vision on designed runs
Has the ability to deliver accurate throws on the run
52.4% on throws 15 or more yards downfield (3rd best of all returning QBs)
Highest Ceiling of all QBs in the class
Is able to dissect teams from the pocket
Has showcased the ability to have nice touch on all three levels (short, intermediate, deep)
Makes good decisions on RPOs/Read options
Performed well in big games
Showed huge strides in development throughout the season
Has shown the ability to diagnose coverages before the snap and identify the open man
Has the ability to change directions with one cut even at his size
Great for red zone offense
Grew significantly as a passer during his first year as a starter
Runs through arm tackles
Plays with an edge
Negatives:
Needs to improve ball security
Takes too much punishment leading to durability concerns
The interceptions are ugly
Sometimes forces hero-like plays when easier ones are available
I would like to see him get through his progressions more consistently
Sometimes brings his eyes down when he feels pressured
Needs to throw with anticipation more
Too many dangerous throws
Final Thoughts
LaNorris Sellers at the beginning of the year and LaNorris Sellers at the end of the year are completely different players. He made huge strides as a passer and looked far more comfortable. He will be only 20 years old when the season starts, with plenty of room to grow. If he can play at the level he did the last few games for an entire season, he will fly up draft boards.
Sellers has every trait you could want in a franchise QB; he just needs to refine the little things to take the next step. You can tell he is smart, and the game is slowing down for him as he gains more experience. This is a talented QB class, but Sellers might be the most gifted of them all. He has the chance to compete against some of the other top QB prospects next year and make a statement. Watch out for LaNorris Sellers and the Gamecocks next year.
