Mrs. Esther Chinyere Onyekesi, mother of late Fish Magnate Group CEO Martins Ifesinachi Onyekesi, has dismissed claims linking Anambra Governor Chukwuma Soludo to her son’s death, calling it a targeted attack.
Martins was kidnapped last month and killed despite ransom payment. Speaking during a condolence visit, she said he was ambushed while returning home.
“They waited for him while he was coming home, and as he alighted from his car to open the gate, they attacked him. I believe it was a targeted attack,” she said.
Mrs. Onyekesi refuted activist VeryDarkMan’s claim that Governor Soludo was behind her son’s killing.
“Governor Soludo is not in any way responsible for the death of my son. We all know that Anambra is now better in terms of security than Soludo met it. Will Soludo come to every home to mount guard?” she stated.
She said Governor Soludo contacted her on the night of the abduction and linked her with the police commissioner, adding that some politicians tried to exploit her grief against him, but she refused.
“I have read news of people blaming the governor for it, but that is not true. I dare say that the governor is doing his best in security, and Anambra is better than what it used to be,” she maintained.
The burial is set for August 28, 2025, in Ikenga, Aguata LGA, Anambra State.
