The future of Super Eagles head coach, Éric Chelle has been in doubt as he will soon meet with officials of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF.
There are reports that Chelle has several offers to consider after guiding the Super Eagles to third position at the just concluded 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The Malian will meet with the NFF after taking a break as they will look to seal a deal ahead of other couple of African countries, who have presented him a better proposal.
Chelle has remained calm and professional, stating that his focus is solely on improving the team and achieving long-term success. He has repeatedly emphasized that decisions regarding his contract lie with the NFF, while he concentrates on World Cup qualification and building a competitive Super Eagles squad.
Chelle could be rewarded with an improved deal surfaced after AFCON 2025, especially following praise for his tactical discipline and squad management. However, the NFF has dismissed claims that any agreement has been reached, maintaining that no formal negotiations have taken place so far.
He continues his duties as Super Eagles head coach under his current contract, with any potential extension expected to be reviewed later, based on results and overall progress of the team.
