Lenovo has launched its new Legion Tab in China, revealing its specs and changes, including the return of a microSD card slot.
While the existing Lenovo Legion Tab (Gen 3) is a solid device, there are two annoying parts to it. One of those is the lack of a microSD card slot, especially seeing as this is a tablet designed with gaming in mind more than anything else. The extra storage would be helpful for holding extra games, even if it comes with 256GB of storage on the US model, and up to 512GB on other models.
The new version is coming with some improvements, though, including the return of a microSD card slot.
Lenovo launched the new Legion Y700 Gen 4 in China on May 8, and has since popped up for $599 on retailers willing to import the device (h/t NotebookCheck). As expected, it has an 8.8-inch LCD display and is powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite. It also has a bigger 7,600 mAh battery with 68W fast charging. It’s also running Android 15 out of the box, an update that the Gen 3 tablet has yet to receive, and has the same 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage, alongside that aforementioned microSD card slot. Memory is 12GB or 16GB or RAM depending on the configuration.
Other changes include dropping the cameras down to a single 50MP rear camera, and a single 8MP front-facing camera. The camera “supports face unlock,” but there’s no mention of any kind of secure biometrics. No fingerprint sensor, and likely no “real” face unlock given there’s just a single front-facing camera.
Shipments from GizTop will head out on May 21, but the bigger question is when this device will launch globally, if at all.
